Welcome
from the Graduate Coordinator,
Vladimiros G. Papangelakis
I am pleased to introduce graduate studies in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry at the University of Toronto.
Our department is not only one of the largest Chemical Engineering departments in Canada, but also one of the oldest - it was officially established in 1904, with the first Ph.D. to graduate in 1933. Steeped in history, our Department continues to pursue research in pure science, in engineering fundamentals and engineering applications.
Our research is funded by the government and the industry often by means of a consortium of companies. As we continue to win research funds, we present students with opportunities to experience dealing with real world problems - Many of our students work in close contact with industry partners during their studies to help prepare our graduates for successful, professional careers.
With about 60 students graduating with Master’s and Ph.D. degrees each year, we consider new graduate candidates with strong backgrounds in engineering and physical sciences. A dynamic professorial staff with an outstanding international reputation contribute to a solid education and other opportunities that attract many intelligent students from across the globe.
