Prospective Professors in Training Program (PPIT)

As a graduate student in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto, you have already demonstrated your academic excellence and potential, and your willingness to invest in your future skills as an engineer, researcher, teacher and scholar. Chemical Engineering is investing in you too by offering a program for Ph.D. and post doctoral students that will introduce prospective professors to essential skill sets needed within and outside of the research realm. Our goal is to assist you in laying the foundation for a successful academic career.

The focus of the program is to facilitate doctoral students' development of essential skill sets outside the realm of research. It will introduce prospective professors to the pedagogical fundamentals of teaching in higher education, including effective lecturing, course design and grading systems. Candidates are expected to complete the program within 24 calendar months, but it may be completed within 12 months depending on scheduling.
