Students win at CSChE Conference

Two students in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry were recognized for their outstanding work at the Canadian Society of Chemical Engineering Conference held in Ottawa from October 19 - 22, 2008.

Dan Wikcramasinghe, a fourth year student, won first prize in the Robert G. Auld Student Paper Competition for his presentation  "Thermolysis Of Sulphur Compounds to Model H2S Generation in Crude Oil." The paper was based on his research under the supervision of Dr. Heather Dettman from Natural Resources Canada's CANMET Energy Technology Centre in Devon, Alberta.

Elena Brei, a Ph.D. student, won 2nd place in the Graduate Student Poster competition for her poster on "Adhesin Proteins in Microbial Floc Extracellular Polymeric Substances (EPS)" with D. G. Allen and S.N. Liss.
