Butera Joins Department

Mary Butera, who has over nine years of experience in the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering, will join the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry as the new Executive Assistant to the Chair, beginning February 8, 2010.

Butera is currently Alumni Relations Officer in the Faculty’s Advancement Office, where she is responsible for building strong relations with engineering alumni. She also serves as secretary to the Engineering Alumni Honours and Awards Committee and oversees the annual Engineering Alumni Association’s Awards Gala. Butera also coordinates Spring Reunion activities within the Faculty.

Prior to joining the University of Toronto, Butera worked for 18 years as an executive assistant and office manager for Sulzer Canada Ltd., which specializes in the manufacturing of industrial machinery and equipment, surfacing technology, and rotating equipment maintenance. Butera worked for the company in Canada as well as Switzerland.

“I am excited to be perusing this new role within the Faculty and I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with Doug Reeve and other members of the Chemical Engineering team,” said Butera.
