Learning Facilities

Students enrolled in the Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry Program at the University of Toronto have access to a broad range of facilities which will play a significant role in their educational experiences.
For example, in the first year chemistry course, in addition to the hands on chemistry, students learn how to use a notebook computer for data acquisition and analysis. In second and third years students partake in a great number of labs ranging from Physical Chemistry to Separation Process and Process Control.

They have the opportunity to work in the Unit Operations laboratory. In this lab students working in teams of 4 are expected to run semi-pilot and pilot sized equipment, where the next step is the real thing! There is nothing like running a two-story tall plate distillation column to make you feel like a chemical engineer!

During their studies, students also get hands on experience at our ANALEST facilities housed in the Chemistry Building. Here they will learn how to use the latest in analyzing technologies as a result of a major corporate donation from Perkin-Elmer who supplies this lab with the latest equipment on the market.

Of course, no university experience would be complete without having to participate in a few lectures! The Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering hosts a broad range of classrooms ranging from electronic classrooms to a teleconference classrooms!

To help our students with their work, there are hundreds of computers available, which are maintained by the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering as well as our Department.

We want to ensure your every success!
